OBP

Order by phone. Service allowing customers to order Direct products over the phone.

Direct

Off-fixture display (OFD)

A display that stands alone away from a fixture, usually made from cardboard and used to highlight promotions.

Operations Director

The person who leads a group of Store Directors or Express Operations Managers.

Operator number

Personal login details used to sign on to progress tills and back office.

A development programme that helps staff progress, for example from a Customer Assistant role into management.

Orange bag

The bag of mail sent to stores each week from head office, containing promotional bulletins, any ad-hoc information such as a Mother’s Day briefing pack and training materials.

Out of code (OOC)

When a product is past its ‘display until’, ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ date, whichever is sooner and is recorded as waste and disposed of, it is deemed to be out of code.
